Jay Mayhem started his career in DJing in the 90s at local club ROCKAMADOUR : the club of the DOUR FESTIVAL where he can spin and mix each friday and saturday stuff like White Zombie, Young gods and Prodigy, His earlier music consisted of metal hard core, Electro-Body-music, baggy music and indie music and all kind of music to be listened with extrem sport like skateboard or a bmx.

With Risk aka "El Blanc " he discovers Club like the Cherry Moon, Cirao, At the villa that's push him to explore another dimention of mixing and music, NRJ belgium request him to have his own radio Show :  "Planet House" and give a b side to national DJs to plays in his show.
It was his 2 first residency at the age of 21 during more thant 5 years.


On the way he Starts to read user's book ! begin a colection of Analogue Machine like the 808 and 303 and Akai sampler, the result was some EP under the name of NO ID, his track "tribe" was on the Dour New Grass cd in 96,
Start his weekly party called "This is Angland" and"Ganja Tribe" where Trip hop, Break and Drum 'n' Bass premice where in the speakers each friday in the Town.

 
Jay tooks a break and left all to go to live in India in 1998 and became Residant in Vagaloor beach and plays his psychedelic goa music for Famous Full Moon in mythycal Goa paradise and discover Surf !.

He came back in his home town to give a re looking in the only real Indie record shop call Rive Gauche, still in action today !
discover Coltrane and chet Baker, start the musical story of the Barshiva where he can play world, jazz and lounge music with oriental sound to be chill with a cocktail and finish the night under more pumpin tracks.

2002 he became the mounthly guest of the famous Alien Nation Party in Paris with his friend PoupÈe Mechanique (Human Toys) fetish egerie from Berquet, reed13,...! He found the most receptive crowd to his music ! between Rammstein, Beasty Boys, DJ Hell or Amon Tobin or Lenny Dee all was good in these party to being crazy !


Start his band called Project Mayhem in 2003 Band project based on music film creation, the band realize 2 soundtracks Nosferatu (Murneau) and Battleship potemkins (Einsestein) ordered by the Belgian nationnal cinematographic art. they were the guest in 2005 to open the famous "Strada del Cinema" to present their composition with cinema projection.
Between metal and electronica, the band is now in studio for the 2009 Album and the release of the soundtrack of Nosferatu.


He creates Independenza recordings in 2006 to let his open minded musical selection be free !
He signes artist like Outside Agency, Do Or Die, DJ Hidde, DJ Vernon, Antichristus to name a few... the catalog now boasts almost 40 titles in metal drum n bass down tempo and techno and style always under discovery.
His label is also oriented in dvd production.

Jay is recognized as one of extrem mixer, more freestyler in all senses, he don't give a fuck about the so called electronical inteligencia focused on the goodlooking and stay with the DIY Attittude.


Jay crossed paths with Peter Kurten is partener in crime since more than 10 years, they made together remixes for Goldie, dj Vadim and Alec Empire remixes.
